Response to error (0x605E): Additional selection 'Quick stop (or DC-injection braking or short-circuit braking) (from V01.05.06)

Function extension:
In the 'Fault reaction active' state, you can already select the controller's response to class II errors under 0x605E (Response to error). This parameter has now been extended by the selection (-2):

  • 0x605E = 0:      Pulse inhibit
  • 0x605E = 2:      Quick stop
  • 0x605E = (-2):  Quick stop (or DC-injection braking or short-circuit braking)

For servo control with feedback, 'Quick stop' is selected to brake the motor as quickly as possible in a controlled manner when certain faults occur. In the case of an additional encoder error, e.g. an open circuit, the controller has been inhibited immediately so far. As a consequence, the motor was no longer actively braked and coasted to standstill.
With the new additional selection (-2), the controller will not just be inhibited in the case of an encoder error, but it will continue to be braked by means of DC-injection braking / short-circuit braking. For asynchronous motors (ASM), DC-injection braking is activated and for synchronous motors (SM), short-circuit braking.

Contained in which products?
i700 servo inverter from V01.05.06

Application:
For some applications, it will be better to continue braking the motor by means of DC-injection braking/short-circuit braking if an error occurs than to have it coast down in an uncontrolled way.
