Motor parameter identification via dialog fails in the case of ASM with holding brake (corrected from V1.6.3)

Corrected from:
- i700 servo inverter V01.06.03.9953

Response of the new version:
The motor parameter identification can be properly executed via the corresponding engineering tool dialog.

What happens?
After approx. 20s, the motor parameter identification is aborted with an error message if the commissioning function was started via the corresponding engineering tool dialog.

When does the problem occur?

  • The problem occurs if an asynchronous motor (ASM) with holding brake is used and
  • the motor parameter identification is executed via the corresponding dialog in the 'Easy Starter' or 'PLC Designer' engineering tool.
The unexpected abort of the identification run is due to a deadlock between status control and brake logic.
For this reason, the holding brake is not released and the state machine does not switch to the "Operation enabled" state. After 20s, the timeout monitoring function responds and the identification process is aborted with an error message.

Which products are affected?
- i700 servo inverter ≤ V01.05.06.9665

Short-term measures/recommendations:
None. Only in the case of an emergency, the motor parameter identification could be carried out successfully by means of the following - actually incorrect - procedure:
- Answer the dialog question whether there is any brake connected with "No brake connected".
With this entry, the motor parameter identification will be completed.

Evaluation:
As a commissioning function, the motor parameter identification is only required during commissioning and not during operation.
This function restriction is no problem for machines which are already in normal operation.
