In the case of a profile change during a deceleration phase, profile parameters are not maintained

8400HighLine and TopLine: FW version ≤ 13.00.00.00
 
What happens?
If a profile change is carried out during the deceleration phase of a movement via the profile generator in the MCK, the drive rotates faster than expected, accelerates more strongly than expected, and/or reversing is executed. In the worst case, the drive accelerates to 200% of C011.
A profile change during the deceleration phase typically occurs:
  • during manual jog when the direction of manual jog is changed before the drive is at standstill.
  • during manual jog in inching mode, e.g. via a joystick control. This also refers to repeated triggering to the same manual jog direction
  • during positioning triggered by touch probe or via the MCK control interface
 
When does the problem occur?
The following conditions must be met at the same time:
  • For the sequence profile, an S-ramp time > 0ms is set.
  • The profile change is effected in the deceleration phase of the first profile
  • The acceleration in the sequence profile is set considerably lower than the deceleration in the first profile. Size of deceleration1/acceleration2=10/1
Great S-ramp times tend to intensity the excess speed.
 
Diagnostics options?
If the above-described response occurs during the profile change, as an experiment, the S-ramp time in the sequence profile should be set to tJerk=0ms. If the profile parameters are then maintained in the movement, this is an indicator of the restriction described. 

Short-term measures/recommendations?
During manual jog, the use of a suitable function block interconnection can avoid the restart of a profile generation before the last profile generation is completed.
Alternatively, an S-ramp time of tJerk=0ms can be basically set for the sequence profile if the application does not absolutely require a jerk reduction.
 
Evaluation:
Not maintaining the profile parameters may result in product and/or machine damage. The setpoint limitation configured upstream of the speed controller via C909/1+2 provides a default limitation to +/-120% of C011. The restriction typically has an effect during manual jog with an inching function:
The response is not necessarily detected during the configuration/commissioning.​
