Absolute position of Hiperface encoders

Which products are affected?
EVS93xx-EI (Servo PLC V2.x, V6.x)
EVS93xx-ET (Servo PLC V2.x, V6.x with technology function)

What happens?
The actual position indicated by the drive does not correspond to the actual position of the Hiperface encoder connected.

When does the problem occur?
The response described above can be observed in case of Hiperface encoders whose encoder constant unequals a power of two as of 64. This means that the absolute value of a Hiperface encoder is not calculated correctly by the drive if a value unequal 64, 128, 256, …, 8192 is set under C0420 (constant for encoder input X8).

Possible diagnostics?
None.

Short-term measures/recommendations?
Whenever Hiperface encoders are used remember that their encoder constants equal a power of two.

Evaluation:
Hiperface encoders with an encoder constant unequal a power of two cannot be used. The function restriction is immediately detected when the Hiperface encoder is used.
