What happens?
If the parameters of basic device codes are to be accessed, an error message in case of a communication interruption between module and basic device is not indicated before the timeout period has expired.
When does the problem occur?
The problem occurs if the fieldbus function module is supplied externally and if the basic device is switched off.
Possible diagnostics?
If there is no immediate response when accessing parameters of basic device codes and if the device is not supplied with voltage, this may indicate that the error described here has occurred.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
If the prolonged response time should activate a response of the master system when processing the parameters, this behaviour can be eliminated by prolonging the 'timeout' time of the master system.
Evaluation:
The prolonged response time in case of switched off basic devices is not to be considered as a problem when applying the measure described before if required.
