Failure of charging resistors

Which products are affected?

9300EP servo positioning controller version V2.1

When does the problem occur?

The charging resistors inside the device can be damaged during the mains connection phase.

When does the problem occur?

If in the mains connection phase a TRIP reset request was sent to the enabled device (e.g. controller enable jumpered) and the TRIP reset occurred within the DC bus voltage range of approx. 285 V to 430 V (see also C0173). After reaching the upper DC bus voltage of 430V a device-dependent time of 0.2 - 1.3 s also had to be maintained without a TRIP reset request in order to avoid a failure.

Possible diagnostics?

None.

Short-term measures/recommendations?

Never perform a TRIP reset during the mains connection phase (wait approx. 5 s after the device has been connected to the mains) or during that time specifically disable the controller with a controller inhibit.

Evaluation:

Failure can be simply and reliably avoided, see short-term measures/recommendations.
