Oscillation damping C0079 has no influence

Which products are affected?
  • 8200vector (3.0 - 7.5 kW 230 V) => SW-V1.5
  • 8200vector (all V9XX versions) => SW-V2.0
  • 8200motec (0.25 - 7.5 kW) => SW-V2.1
  • 8200vector (0.25 - 11 kW) => SW-V2.1

What happens?

The oscillation damping has no influence in case of the basic device software version V1.4 until V2.1. Entries made under code C0079 do not have any effect.

When does the problem occur?

The oscillation damping C0079 acts in both operating modes of the frequency inverter, V/f characteristic control and vector control. The oscillation damping can suppress an idle oscillation of the drive. This kind of oscillations occur increasingly in the ranges higher than 60 % of the rated motor field frequency.

Possible diagnostics?

The value under code C0079 is not processe.

Short-term measures?
  • Reduce switching frequency (C0018)
  • Set vector control because under this control mode the drive does not show such a strong tendency towards idle oscillation.
  • Set slip compensation (C0021) to 0 in case of V/f characteristic control (not with vector control)
  • By increasing the corner frequency C0015 a reduction of the oscillation tendency is to be expected in case of motor oscillations under V/f characteristic control. However, the reachable torque decreases.
