Absolute encoder, evaluation in function block CCTRL

Application:
  • The dimensional system of a machine is to be transferred to the drive controller direct (important for coordinated axes with mechanical nesting)
  • Demand for elimination of conventional referencing, e.g. direct positioning at machine origin

Evaluation in the CCTRL:
  • Requirement: Stegmann absolute encoder AM512 8V

'Set reference' function:
  • Set reference once

Code C1367/1 was introduced for this purpose. Simply the current distance between the tool and the machine origin is entered here. Saving with C0003 is unnecessary. After every power up the drive controller now determines the current position of the tool in relation to machine origin automatically and indicates it at outputs CCTRL-PHI-SET2 and CCTRL-PHI-ACT. After entering the reference in C1367/1 the drive controller should be switched off and then back on again so that initialisation of cam data can take place. The drive may now have to be moved from the current position to the cam position => Substitutional positioning.
After power up the cam position is available at output CCTRL-PHI-SET if the function described above has been triggered.

Important:
When a parameter set is downloaded, code C1367/1 is not transferred as well so whenever the controller is put into operation again always enter the actual current position of the tool in relation to the machine origin here.
If there is no entry in C1367/1, there will be full compatibility with firmware V2.2.

Important:
If the feedback system is switched over, the machine origin must also be re-entered. Synchronisation is always conducted via the feedback system and is specifically tailored to it.
  • Frequently moving the origin

This can be done via the TouchProbe system. The Set reference via TouchProbe function can only run if the drive has been disengaged from the cam (CCTRL-N2-SET = high).
Procedure:
  • Set code C1349/0 = 2 (CCTRL-TP-MODE on absolute encoder)
  • Input CCTRL-N2-SET must be 1
  • Input CCTRL-TPIN/E4 must be 0
  • At input CCTRL-TP-POS the current distance between the 'tool' and the machine origin is created. This is best done if one of the codes C1477/x is connected there (input in units). However, it is also possible to create an incremental variable here (e.g. code C0474/x)
  • Then generate an low-high edge at input CCTRL-TPIN
  • Set input CCTRL-TPIN back to 0.

This position is saved automatically and is maintained even in the event of a power failure (C0003 is unnecessary) and is available again after power up. After power up, integrators PHI-SET2 and PHI-ACT contain the current position of the tool in relation to the machine origin (distance from machine origin). It does not matter whether the drive has been moved with power switched off or whether it is still at the last position. The drive can now be positioned via function blocks RFGPH2 or RFGPH3 in relation to cam position. This function has to be programmed manually though because it is not contained in basic configurations.

For compatibility with the precursor version code C1349/0 (CCTRL-TP-MODE) has been expanded to include the selection item 'Set reference' (C1349/0 = 2). With C1349/0 = 1 the 'old' function is restored. C1349/0 = 1 is the factory setting.
