Question:
Servo inverter i950 (BS):
After replacing the device and taking over the SD card, the replacement device should be configured identically to the original device. What must be observed for this?
Answer:
The SD card can be used with the i950 to transfer the following data from the original unit to the replacement unit when replacing the unit:
- Firmware version
- Retain data, including communication settings
- User retain data
Prerequisites:
- The replacement unit must be hardware-compatible with the unit to be replaced so that the same firmware version can be loaded.
- The SD card must be "prepared" for the replacement case, i.e. all data required for the replacement device must be available on the SD card.
- In case of a total defect of the original device, its data can no longer be accessed to save them on the SD card.
Ideally, the SD card should be "prepared" during the commissioning of the original i950 axis, e.g. to save the communication settings.
To save parameters that change during operation, the "preparation" may have to be carried out repeatedly.
- When replacing the unit, a certain procedure is required.
Preparing the SD card to accept the firmware version:
- File 'update_data.tar': If this file is recognised in the directory .../firmware on the SD card when the i950 is started, then a firmware download is automatically carried out. An additional file (deviceuuid) indicates whether the firmware version has already been transferred once.
- Possibilities to load the file 'update_data.tar' onto the SD card:
- Execute the device command parameter backup 0x2022:40 while the SD card is inserted (recommended method).
- Firmware download with the firmware loader directly to the SD card (PC SD card reader required)
- Firmware download with the firmware loader to the i950 while the SD card is inserted
Preparation of the SD card for the transfer of the retaining data:
- Retain data, such as the communication settings, as well as the user retain data are stored in a memory area on the basic unit during operation.
- The communication settings for Ethernet, PROFINET, EtherCAT 2nd station address (optional participants) are defined during commissioning and do not change during the use of the i950. Therefore, these settings should already be saved on the SD card during the commissioning procedure by executing the device command 'Parameter backup' 0x2022:40.
- Alternatively, the PROFINET address can also be reset by the PROFINET master in the replacement device.
- User retai data, such as the winding diameter, counter readings, flags, etc. change during operation. It is therefore not sufficient to save this data on the SD card only during commissioning. If necessary, they must be saved repeatedly in between.
Take over the data in the replacement unit:
- With the SD card inserted, execute the device command 'Restore' 0x2022:43 in the replacement device.
The restore data is then transferred to the i950 basic unit. - Only then is it possible to go online with a new i950 replacement device via Ethernet or PROFINET with the address used in the original device.
