Controller, i950: Software: Updating a PLC boot application

Question:
If required, customers have to update their programs during machine operation on site.
Are there any easy options for this?

Often files have to be sent by e-mail to the end user for updating the PLC boot application.

Answer:
Yes, there are. This can be done in different ways.

Lenze controllers (3200C, p500, c300, p300) offer the following options:

1. Backup&Restore
The customer can create a controller backup in his office. After that, he sends the backup to the end user. The end user uses the Backup&Restore tool and a USB stick to install the backup.
Note: The retain data is set to the values of the controller in the customer's office.

2. Application Loader
In the PLC Designer, you can create an L-force Loader file (lfl file; Project --> Easy Export menu). This file can be sent to the end user. The end user uses the EASY Navigator --> Application Loader to install it.
Note: As a result, the retain data may be reset to their standard values.

These options are available for the i950, c5xx:

1. Easy Starter
In PLC Designer you can create an L-force Loader file (lda file; menu Project --> Easy Export). This file can be sent to the end user. The installation is carried out by the end user via the EASY Navigator --> Easy Starter (menu item "Download").
Note: As a result, the retain data may be reset to their standard values.
A detailed description of the procedure can be found in the appendix (i950_Application_transfer_with_EasyStarter.pdf).

2. Application Loader
In the PLC Designer, you can create an L-force Loader file (lda file; Project --> Easy Export menu). This file can be sent to the end user. The end user uses the EASY Navigator --> Application Loader to install it.
