i700: Only axis modules are equipped with DC bus capacitors. The i700 power supply modules are equipped with rectifiers and brake choppers.

Question:
Which i700 servo inverters are equipped with capacitors and which i700 devices are equipped with a brake chopper?

Answer:
For the i700 servo inverter as a multi-axis system, only the i700 axis modules (controllers) are equipped with DC bus capacitors for buffering the DC voltage in the DC bus.
The i700 power supply modules are not equipped with separate DC bus capacitors. They are mainly used for the mains connection and to rectify the mains voltage to be fed into the DC bus.
Only the power supply modules are equipped with a brake chopper. In this way, the regenerative braking energy fed by the controllers into the DC-bus connection can be dissipated at a central point.

DC-bus capacity of the i700 axis modules (technical data from i700 hardware manual):
  • i700 single axis module    5A:      165 µF
  • i700 single axis module  10A:      165 µF
  • i700 single axis module  20A:      330 µF
  • i700 single axis module  32A:      720 µF
  • i700 single axis module  48A:    1080 µF
  • i700 single axis module  64A:    1080 µF

  • i700 double axis module    5A:      165 µF
  • i700 double axis module  10A:      330 µF
  • i700 double axis module  20A:      720 µF
  • i700 double axis module  32A:    1080 µF
