Lenze controllers with 64-bit operating system

Question:
What must be observed with regard to 64-bit operating systems when developing programs with PLC Designer V3.x?

Answer:

The current Lenze L-force controllers are based on a 32-bit processor/operating system architecture. In the future, 64-bit systems will gain an increasing market share, especially in the high-performance sector. This phenomenon can also be observed on Windows and Linux operating systems. To secure Lenze's market position in the future, new L-force controller platforms may be equipped with 64-bit operating systems.

From the perspective of the application (controller application written according to IEC61131), this does not mean any fundamental changes. The data width of the IEC61131-underlying data types such as BYTE, WORD, DWORD, etc. is defined and supported by the PLC Designer/L-force controllers in accordance with the standard.

This document describes problems and traps from the user's point of view and provides IEC 61131-application and library creators with a guide for creating portable code.
