Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP)

Function extension:
The Profinet "Media Redundancy Protocol" has been introduced to increase the node accessibility. The MRP ensures that all nodes on the fieldbus can continue to be accessed in the event of a simple network downtime. For this purpose, the line topology is interconnected to a ring.

E94AYCER communication module FW 2.10  

Application:
  • All nodes of the ring must support the "Media Redundancy Protocol".
  • One node (e.g. I/O controller) assumes the role of the redundancy manager.
  • The other nodes in the ring are redundancy clients. 
  • The E94AYCER communication module V2.x can only assume the role of an MRP client.
