Automatic circuit-breakers for fusing on the mains side permissible for i700 supply module

Question:
Is it permissible to use automatic circuit-breakers for fusing on the mains side for the i700 servo inverter?

Answer:
Automatic circuit-breakers offer the practical advantage of being quickly ready for use again after tripping.
Compared to common fuses, automatic circuit-breakers feature, however, much slower tripping characteristics. This might affect the efficiency of the system protection function.
For this reason, Lenze performs tests with automatic circuit-breakers in different constellations.

As a result, automatic circuit-breakers can now be used in further applications for fusing i700 supply modules on the mains side.

i700 supply module (30 A):
  • Automatic circuit-breakers are released for applications according to CE, (32A circuit-breaker, type C)
  • Automatic circuit-breakers are released for applications requiring UL approval, (max. 40A circuit-breaker)

i700 supply module (60 A):

  • Automatic circuit-breakers are only released for applications according to CE, (63A circuit-breaker, type C)
  • Automatic circuit-breakers are not permissible for applications requiring UL approval. The UL requirements can only be met with common fuses.

The hardware manual for the i700 series will be completed accordingly in the next revision.
