Monitoring of the software limit positions (P04/P05), improved behaviour (as of V5.0)

Which products are affected?
Positioner template as of V5.0  (for 9300 Servo PLC, ECSxA Application)
Function libraries 'LenzeMotionControl1V0500.lib' (V5.0)

Function extension:
Up to now it might have happened that the monitoring of the software limit position has been activated when approaching standstill positions close to or directly on a software limit position. This behaviour occurred because of the nearly always jittering actual position value (fault message P04/P05). The monitoring has immediately been reactivated after a fault reset and the drive could not been moved backward in direction of the traversing range. This problem occasionally occurred especially when the manual homing was used since in this case the software limit positions are used as target position to be approached and the drive may stop exactly on the software limit position after manual homing.
As of version V5.0 the behaviour of the software limit position monitoring has been improved. As a result, the problem no longer occurs.

The mode for monitoring the software limit positions can be selected via the new code C3042:

C3042 = 0: (New mode as of V5.0, default setting).
If a motion in direction of the traversing range is selected via manual homing or a positioning profile, a jittering actual position does not trigger a fault message. The direction of movement is identified by means of the current set position.
In addition to the 'Positioning' and 'ManualJog' states the 'Standby' template state is monitored with regard to the software limit positions.

C3042 = 1: (Compatibility mode, behaviour up to <=V4.1)
If a movement in direction of the traversing range is detected, a fault message is usually not triggered. However, the direction of movement is identified by means of the current actual position so that the detected direction of movement toggles due to the jittering actual position.
Compared to previous versions, the 'Standby' state is also not monitored with regard to the software limit positions.

Note:
Irrespective of the setting under code C3042, the message 'Warning NegPositionLimit' or 'Warning PosPositionLimit' is indicated when the software limit position has been reached  if the manual homing (ManualJog state) is selected. Previous versions showed the same behaviour.
