Determination of target system/device application version (C00099/000, C00200/00x ... C00213/000 and C00218/000)

Question:
How can you find the version of the target system (firmware version) and the application (TA) offline or online in an Engineer project?

Answer:

Firmware version:
The firmware version of the target system can be determined in two different ways

1. Online: In the Engineer, click on the symbol of the corresponding drive controller (e.g. 9400 HighLine V04) and click on the All parameters tab on the right-hand side. Select the parameter group Identification => Drive controller. The existing firmware version can now be read out via the code point C00099/000.
2. offline: The way described for "online" is also possible "offline". However, it shows zero values if the project was not read from the drive controller at least once before saving.

3. device description: To find out the version of the device description with which the drive is created in the Engineer project, click on the symbol of the corresponding drive controller in Engineer (e.g. 9400 HighLine V04) and click on the Properties tab on the right-hand side. The projected firmware version of the target system is displayed in the last line Version.

4. In the code positions C00200/00x ... C00210/00x the version data (software and hardware) of the target system (drive controller and modules) are displayed.

Application version (only 9400):
The version of the current application can be determined in two different ways

1. offline: Click the icon for the corresponding application (e. g. actuator - speed) in the Engineer and select the Properties tab on the right-hand side. In the last line, Version, the application version is indicated.
2. online: Click the icon for the corresponding controller (e. g. 9400 HighLine V04) in the Engineer and select the All parameters tab on the right-hand side. Select the parameter group Identification => Device application. Codes C00211/000, C00213/000 and C00218/000 indicate the version data of the application.
Note: The online values of codes C00099/000, C00200/00x ... C00213/000 and C00218/000 are offline taken over in an Engineer project, if the parameters have been transferred to the Engineer project in online mode before using the Engineer menu command Online => Read parameter set from device. Otherwise, the parameter values will be reset to zero again in offline mode. For this reason, it is recommended to load the controller parameters into the project at the end of commissioning.
