Question:
In which cases is it possible to use an 8200 motec/vector device with an increased rated power?
Answer:
Especially in case of pump/fan applications 8200 motec/vector devices can be operated with 120 % overload. It is characteristic that these applications are usually operated with rated power (without overload) at the maximum. Thus, a better utilisation of the power stage of the devices is possible and the device can usually be selected one stage smaller than the motor.
However, the following restrictions are to be observed for the operation with 120 % overload:
- This mode of operation can only be used with 230 V and 400 V mains voltage. A mains voltage of 480 V is not permitted (cause for switching losses in the power stage).
- Switching frequency (C0018) = max. 4 kHz, automatic reduction (cause for switching losses in the power stage)
- Max. ambient temperature = 35 °C
- The mains choke / mains filter must be adapted to the increased mains voltage.
- Owing to the components it is not possible to operate all devices with increased rated power (e. g. 8200 motec 7.5 kW or 8200 vector 11 kW).
Selection information is provided in the inverter catalogue under the chapter 'Operation with increased rated power'.
