Delayed switch on/off of a digital signal during motor start

How can a delayed switch on/off of a digital signal, e. g. in case of motor start, be realized?
Answer:
When a motor is started in an application another or modified function of the frequency inverter can possibly be required to be switched on/off for a certain period of time during motor start. The following example shows this possibility for the 8200vector/motec with application-I/O (see attachment [PDF-file 113 kB]).
