Question:
What is defined by the stop-categories of the EN 60204?
Answer:
A stop of the category 0 is the simple stop of the energy supply to the motor. A rotating motor coasts down or is mechanically stopped.
A stop of category 1 makes the motor decelerate along the ramp until standstill. Then the energy supply is interrupted, as well.
A stop of category 2 makes the motor decelerate along the ramp until standstill. Then the motor is still supplied with energy and all control functions are preserved. The standstill (position) and consequently the rotor position of the motor are monitored.
