Which products are affected?
ESP-SPAC-POS1 (Software Package Positioner V3.3)
What happens?
If the home position is not known, the drive traverses in the positioning mode 'Speed' with the profile parameters and ramps down unexpectedly to standstill along the quick stop ramp when reaching the positive or negative software limits. The positioner template V3.3 changes to 'TroubleState' status. It is not possible to traverse the drive any further ('Constant travel' has been selected as positioning mode).
When does the problem occur?
The problem occurs when the software limits are activated, i. e. values unequal zero have been selected under codes C3040/C3041 (with C3040/C3041 = 0 all software limits are deactivated) and the home position is not known.
Possible diagnostics?
The template changes to status 'TroubleState' and is indicated as current error (actual fail) with 'PosPositionLimit'. The error response of the positioner template V3.3 is Fail-Qsp.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
The error is caused by the template of the software packages. The problem does not occur anymore when deactivating the software limit positions (C3040 & C3041 = 0).
Alternatively, the function 'Manual Jog' (manual positioning) can be used continuously as constant travel since, compared to the 'Speed' positioning mode, the limit of the traversing range is also defined as target position if the manual jog function is activated. Moreover, the drive does not stop at the software limit under 'Manual Jog' status. The 'Manual Jog' parameters are to be adapted accordingly.
Evaluation:
The function restriction occurs during initial commissioning and can be avoided by applying the measures described. The error will be eliminated in a following version of the Positioner Software Package.
