Question:
Is it possible to activate a logging function to GDC?
Answer:
The GDC has a logging function. This logging function registers the online activities of the software tools and stores them in a log file when the online connection is finished. This log file has the ending xxx.log and can be seen with every text editor. It can be very helpful to activate this function, when there are communication problems. By means of the documentation the departments ACP (Product Support) and AUT (Automation development) can better locate communication problems and offer possible solutions.
The logging function is to be activated manually in the file 'gdc32.ini'. This file can be found in ..../Programs/Lenze/GDC/BIN. The file can be processed with each text editor. For activating the logging function the entry 'Logging=0' in the paragraph [Communications] is modified to 'Logging=1'. For inactivation the entry is reset to 'Logging=0'. Finally, the modified file is to be stored.
The recorded log file is named 'xxx.log' (xxx depends on the set way of communication, e. g. can.log) and is stored directly in the file .../Programs/Lenze/GDC/LOG. The file is overwritten by GDC with each new establishment of connection.
From GDC version 4.7 on the logging function can be activated from the GDC surface more comfortable. In menu 'Options' => 'Desktop' you can select 'Admission of the communication services'.
