Logging function of drive server and bus server S7

Question:

Is it possible to activate a logging function to the drive server and bus server S7?

Answer:

The drive server and the bus server S7 have a logging function. This logging function registers the online activities of the software tools and stores them in a log file when the online connection is finished. This log file has the ending xxx.log and can be seen with every text editor. It can be very helpful to activate this function, when there are communication problems. By means of the documentation the departments ACP (Product Support) and AUT (Automation development) can better locate communication problems and offer possible solutions.

The drive server logging function is activated by double click on file 'log_on.reg' and can be inactivated by double click on file 'log_off.reg'. The recorded log file is named 'Driveserver.log' and is stored directly in the directory 'C'. The file is overwritten with each new establishment of connection of the drive server.

The pdf document shows you how to activate the logging function of the bus server S7 and where the log file is stored. The bus server S7 only creates a log file, when it is started by software (OPC Client) and consequently establishes a connection.
