Why after installation and confirmation of the Drive Server in the window 'Module Information' Index card 'Diagnostic Buffer' of the Siemens software STEP7-Simatic Manager no diagnostic texts are displayed anymore, but only HEX values?
Answer:
Due to the installation of the Lenze Drive Server and Lenze Bus Server S7 the standard identity change level of the Windows operating system is set to 'Anonymous'. After this setting has been modified to 'Identify' the known diagnostic texts will be displayed. With this setting the Drive Server operates faultless, too. A detailed description how to change the DCOM can be found in the manual of the Drive Server.

Siemens Step7 version: 5.3 + HF1
Lenze Drive Server version: 1.2.11
Lenze S7 Server version: 2.2.1.0
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional: 5.0.2195 SP4 Build 2195
In case of Windows XP the error profile is different. When the Window 'Module Information' is opened, the error message 'It is an internal OLE error occurred' error number 256:26 and the hardware configuration cannot be opened anymore.
