Question:
Can the access to codes of 8200 vector/motec and 9300 be restricted by entering a password?
Answer:
8200 vector / 8200 motec has one code (C0094) and 9300 has two codes (C0094, C0096) enabling the restricted access to the code list step by step.
1.)
'Password', code C0094: (Password protection activation regarding operation with keypad)
If in code C0094 a password is defined, this means by entering a value between 0001 and 9999, and if this value is saved then, only the USER codes will be available to the user via the keypad. If the password is re-entered in C0094 (the value between 0001 and 9999 entered before) the access protection will be eliminated. Independent from the setting in C0094 all codes can still be accessed via FIF interface (8200 vector/motec), systembus (X4) and AIF interface. Consequently, parameter setting can be effected by the GDC software and the communication channels mentioned before without any restrictions. The password in C0094 can be entered by means of the keypad, as well as Global Drive Control (GDC), and thus the access to all codes can be activated and inactivated.
Parameter setting of the 8200 vector/motec user menu:
In code C0
517 subcode 1...10 up to 10 codes can be entered, which then will be available in the user menu.
Parameter setting of the 9300 user menu:
In code C0
517 subcode 1...32 up to 32 codes can be entered, which then will be available in the user menu.
2.)
'Parameter access protection, code C0096: (Password protection activation regarding operation via bus system)
Code C0094 was extended by code C0096. It enables the parameter access to be restricted by AIF and/or 'on board' systembus step by step. The entry under C0096/
1 defines the eventual parameter access via the AIF interface, and the entry in C0096/
2 defines the access via the 'on board' systembus. Following selections can be made:
- 0: no password protection
- 1: write protection
- 2: read protection
- 3: read and write protection
If the protection is extended to the 'on board' systembus and/or the AIF interface, even GDC cannot access anymore the inhibited codes according to the settings.
The parameter access protection in C0096 is only active in connection with the password in C0094.
The parameter setting is executed as follows:
- Select access protection in C0096/1 for AIF or C0096/2 for CAN.
- Activate password protection for keypad in C0094.
Note:
The parameter access protection refers only to the parameter channel. The process data communication is not restricted.
