Error message when writing variables

Which products are affected?
ESP-DDS2-P (Global Drive PLC Developer Studio Version 2.0, 2.1)

What happens?
The value of a variable can be modified online in the DDS declaration editor. By pressing the <Enter> button or double-clicking the relevant variable the dialog box opens for writing a variable. The current value of the variable can be changed by entering a new value.

After pressing the <OK> button in the dialog Write variable '<Variablename>' the following message is displayed:

Syntax error in the new value of the variable

When does the problem occur?
During monitoring, variable values may be displayed in the Decimal, Hexadecimal and Binary numerical systems.
If the variable values are displayed in the Hexadecimal or Binary numerical systems and if the most significant bit of a variable of the type INT or SINT is set, i.e. the sign bit of the variable, the above-described error message appears when writing.

Possible diagnostics?
None.

Short-term measures/recommendations?
To change integer variable types switch the variable value display over to the Decimal numerical system. You can perform the switchover via the menu Project>Options in the Category Editor, field Bitvalues.

Evaluation:
Changing variable values with the aid of DDS is performed during program generation or the commissioning phase. With the above-described recommendation changing the variable values poses no problems.
