What happens?
Global variables are not found with the menu command Project>Global Search at every location of their use within the DDS project.
When does the problem occur?
Global variables which are not of the BOOL type are not found with the menu command Project>Global Search in blocks (POUs = Program Organisation Units) which have been programmed in the language Ladder Diagram (LD).
This function restriction also applies to the menu command Project>Global Replace.
Possible diagnostics?
None.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
During execution of the menu command Project>Global Search there is a risk of the search results being diverted into the message box. For this purpose press the <Messagewindow> button in the dialog Global Search.
Alternatively, you can also use the cross-reference list (Project>Show Cross Reference) to search for variables.
Evaluation:
Owing to this function restriction global variables are not found by the global search function in blocks with the language Ladder Diagram. It tends to be rare that blocks are programmed in the language Ladder Diagram. However, the global search function is frequently used during program compilation and commissioning for troubleshooting purposes.
