DriveServer, missing symbols for network and data communications-connections

Question:

Why do the symbols for network- and data communications-connections disapear in the Windows operating system after the DCOM settings (DriveServer) have been modified?

Answer:

The modification of DCOM settings due to access rights of the drive server can cause incorrect behaviour of the Windows operating system. Possible solutions can be taken from the Microsoft Knowledge Base (Article '254631').
