Extension of the 87 Hz - technology for 150 Hz

Question:

Is it possible to operate a motor with a special winding (135V delta / 230 V star) with rated excitation (rated torque)?

Answer:

Yes, it is possible, provided that the frequency inverter has a rated voltage of 400 V and a rated current > motor rated current in delta connection. The motor should be at least 6 poles (max. speed < 3000 rpm). The power, as well as the setting range of the motor increase by factor 3.

Demands on the motor:
  • Special winding 135 V delta / 230 V star
  • The motor's winding is supposed to be suitable for the inverter.
  • The applied motor must be at least a 6-pole motor (consequently max. speed < 3000 rpm with 150 Hz)
  • For a maximum speed of 3000 rpm the motor is supposed to be designed constructively (bearing, balance, centrifugal forces).
