Motor noise, underrated controller, current controller setting

Question:

The motor current vibrates and emits strong noise although the correct Lenze motor was selected under code C0086 (Selection motor type) and thus the current controller parameters were adapted.
Condition: The rated motor power is higher than the controller power.

Answer:

The default settings for the current controller are values which were found empirically for the matched motor and controller power. The gain Vp of the current controller depends on the maximum current of the 9300 (maximum input value of C0022). If the controller is underrated the current controller may vibrate in some rarely used controller - motor combinations.

If the current controller vibrates (strong noise, vibrations) decrease the current controller gain Vp (C0075) and increase the adjustment tim Tn (C0076) during commissioning.

Note:
In the following cases, the controller is underrated:
  • Applications with synchronous motor for low max. torque requirements
  • Selection of an overrated motor for thermal reasons
