Graphic operator-controllable by touch areas

Question:

How can a graphic (BMP, JPG,...) be made operator-controllable by touch areas in order to operate a machine?

Answer:

Instead of keys the touch screen keypads are fitted with two different operator elements:
  • TouchKeys and
  • TouchAreas

Graphics can be superimposed by the operator element TouchArea. This enables e. g. the control of a machine, which is represented in a diagram, directly by touching the graphic.

Different commands (set Bit, toggle Bit,...) or functions (page change,...) can be assigned to a TouchArea, too.

In oder to superimpose a TouchArea on a graphic, please follow these steps:

1. Import the required graphic in the HMI project via the project component Pictures. Please consider the graphic's dimensions.
2. Please insert the graphic via the menu Object>Insert picutre.
3. Click on the menu Fields>Touch area and drag a rectangle on the area of the graphic, which is to be operated.
4. Via the dialog window Field setting : Touch area please insert the requested command / function.
