Monitoring of absolute value encoders

Application:

The demands on coordination of several axes in the traversing range become higher and higher and make the use of absolute value encoders / multi-turn encoders absolutely necessary.

Description:

Previous applications only required a check of these encoders at mains connections, it was not possible to check their functionality during operation. The possibilities for error evaluations, when absolute value encoders are used, were extended:
  • SD7: detection of open circuit or simple short-circuit of the absolute track
  • SD8: detection of open circuit or simple short-circuit of the Sin-Cos track
  • nErr: failures of the evaluation electronics and differences between actual speed and speed setpoint (adjustable under C0576 in % of C0011)

The monitoring function is verifiable for the for the following encoder types:
  • Thalheim ITD22 A 4Y66 2048 M P3 KR1S14 IP 65 08  C-No. 00002343-02
  • Thalheim ITD22 A 4Y66 2048 M P3 KR1S14 IP 65 08  C-No. 99004708-109
  • Stegmann: SCS / SCM  60 and 70
