Zero pulses, too many or wrongly detected at X8 or X9

Question:

When an incremental encoder or an absolute encoder with zero track is used, the zero pulses are often wrongly detected or detected too often. What remedial measures are possible?

Answer:

Electromagnetic influence may result in wrong detections. Especially the application of the correct cables and their wiring in accordance with EMC requirements is to be considered. The wave resistor of the sensor cable is 120 Ohm. If, after this, there are still zero pulse errors, it might be sensible to adapt the input resistor to the zero track. For this purpose please connect a resistor between 180 Ohm and 200 Ohm in parallel between Z and /Z (terminals X8 or X9: Pin 6 and 7).
