Lunchtime Session: Acceleration Profiles

Content:

Acceleration profiles appear in any drive application, so it might be useful to deal with them a little more in detail. By the example of a rotary cross cutter, we dig deep in this Friday Lunchtime Session and analyze different motion profile types with a focus on the peak acceleration (and you know, peak acceleration leads to the peak torque which the motor must be able to generate to run the required motion profile!).

Let's focus on the acceleration profiles of some more profile types:

  • polynomial 2nd order

  • polynomial 5th order

  • sloped sine line

  • modified acceleration trapezoidal

Watch today's Friday Lunchtime tutorial to learn more about the properties of different motion profiles. Download the attached sample PLC project and test it in "PLC Designer". You may also be interested in the EXCEL sheet for calculating different motion profiles.
