Function-extension:
Local time (local time):
In addition to the "system time" the device now also has the option display the local time, taking into account the time zones "local time" .
The local time is derived from the system time, by specifying a time offset in the format +/- hh:mm. For example, this allows the timestamps in logbooks iin the engineering tools are displayed in relation to the local time.
Related parameters:
- 0x245C:002: Display current local time
- 0x245C:003: local-time - zlateral offset to UTC
System time (reference to UTC):
The system time, based on the "Coordinated Universal Time" (UTC), represents the uniform time basis in the drive system. For example, the timestamps for entries of events in the logbook are based on the system time.
There are various options for setting the system time:
- 0x245B:001=[0]: NTP (Network Time Protocol).
The system time is synchronized with the reference time from an NTP server.
This selection can be chosen if an NTP server is available in the Ethernet or Profinet network.
Possible NTP servers can be selected under 0x245A:002..009 can be set.
- 0x245B:001=[1]: EtherCAT Distributed Clocks (DC).
When the synchronization of the control cycles via EtherCAT-DC is active and the device is in the SafeOperational or Operational state, the time of the distributed clocks is used as the system time.
- 0x245B:001=[2]: Set system time manually.
The system time can optionally be set manually if there is no external source for the automatic system time setting.
- 0x245B:002: Display current system time
Set up NTP server addresses:
- Parameter 0x245A:002 ..005:
Up to 4 different NTP servers can be set up via their IP addresses in order to use the reference clock timet. - Parameter 0x245A:006 ...009:
Alternatively and if available, the NTP servers can also be addressed via their names, keyword "name-server".
- Parameter 0x245A:001 = [1]:
Activation of the kconfigured NTP server addresses in the device, as a prerequisite for automatically setting the system time via an NTP server.

Servo-Inverter i950 FW: from V01.11.00
Application:
In a drive system consisting of several individual components, all timestamps and other time information should refer to the same time. This is the only way to correctly classify and correlate the times of events that occurred in the individual components in the event of an error analysis .
Recommended:
The system time should be set to match the "Coordinated Universal Time" (UTC).
Use an NTP server to automatically and accurately synchronize the system time with a reference clock.
