Operating system can only be started in the safe mode (remedied from V4.9)

Remedied from:
GDC 4.9 and the update for GDC 4.9 or GDC 4.8 easy in combination with the operating system WINDOWS XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Behaviour of new version:
The PeakCan.sys driver which has lead to a function restriction after the installation of GDC 4.8 has been replaced by a new driver in GDC 4.9. This new driver is working without any restrictions.
As a result, the operating system can now be started without any restrictions after the installation of the parameter setting software GDC 4.9.

Which products are affected?
GDC 4.8 and the update for GDC 4.8 or GDC 4.8 easy in combination with the operating system WINDOWS XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Service Pack 2 (SP2).

What happens?
The operating system is aborted during the start-up process and in most cases a 'BlueScreen' indicating the error message 'IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL…' appears.

When does the problem occur?
The problem occurs after the installation of GDC 4.8 when restarting the PC.

Possible diagnostics?
If, after the installation of GDC 4.8, the operating system is aborted repeatedly during the start-up process, the error described before may have occurred.

Short-term measures/recommendations?
In order to avoid that the operating system is aborted during the start-up phase the 'safe mode' is to be activated by pressing the F8 function key at the beginning of the start-up process. The 'Last known good configuration' option is to be selected from the menu appearing in the following.
It is necessary to delete the PeakCan.sys driver after starting the PC.

The driver mentioned before can be found in the following directory:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\driver

Afterwards, the function restriction can be eliminated by installing the 'update of the communication software (CAN)' (≥ V2.0.2.0, see 'Downloads').

Evaluation:
The affected PC can still be started in the 'safe mode'. After deleting the driver it can be used again without any restrictions. PC data will not get lost.
