Which products are affected?
ESP-HMI1-P (HMI Designer Version 1.x)
What happens?
Text lists can be used to show the user a (status) text instead of the numerical value of a variable. In the project component Text list a text is assigned to each value.
The space required for displaying a text list on a page, depends on the length of the longest text within the text list. If, however, the longest text in this text list is shortened later, the text list does not adapt automatically. This means, the length of the text list does not change, although all texts within the text list are shorter.
When does the problem occur?
An 'HMI Designer (ESA font)' project font has been selected via the menu item Configuration>Project languages. If the texts are put together for a text list in the project component Text list and the dialog is confirmed with <Ok>, the HMI Designer will adapt all texts included the text list to the length of the longest text. This means, shorter texts are filled with space bars. If the text list is re-opened, all texts will have the same length, this means a shortened text from the text list does not shorten the complete text list.
If 'based on Windows font' project fonts are used, the above-mentioned response does not occur.
Possible diagnostics?
In the dialog Project component Text list the length of the text list is displayed at the top right-hand corner. The length of the text marked in the text list is indicated at the bottom right. Check if a shortened text leads to a shortened text list.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
In order to reduce the length of a text list, delete the space bars added by the HMI Designer from each text in the text list.
In case of keypads with a graphics display select a Windows character set as Project font.
Evaluation:
Dependent on the quantity of texts in a text list the shortening of the text list can be very time consuming as each single text of the text list is to be shortened. Lenze text displays can show max. 20 characters in one line. Therefore, they are more likely to be affected by this function restriction. In case of keypads with a graphics display Windows character sets are used very often. These character sets are not affected by the function restriction described before.
