Support of modular machine configuration for EtherCAT
Function extension:
Lenze controllers support the modular machine configuration (MMC) for EtherCAT.
The concept of the modular machine configuration is based on the fact that depending on the configuration selected in a project, certain EtherCAT slaves must be physically available on the bus (mandatory slaves) or need not/must not be available (optional slaves). I.e. the real arrangement/order of the EtherCAT nodes on the fieldbus need not correspond to the arrangement/order in the application program.

Key features of the modular machine configuration:
From the application program, you can select different configurations.
It is possible to activate/deactivate EtherCAT nodes (change the configuration) without stopping/(re)starting the PLC application or a reset of the control system.
The application program can identify whether an EtherCAT node is active or not.
The application program can respond to differences between the configuration and the physical EtherCAT bus structure.
