The stop categories define how a motor is brought to standstill.
- Stop category 0: The motor is switched off and coasts down or is mechanically braked. Stop category 0 may be used for switch off in emergency situations.
- Stop category 1: The motor is decelerated along a ramp and then switched off. Stop category 1 may be used for switch off in emergency situations.
- Stop category 2: The motor is decelerated along a ramp and then not switched off, but remains in speed and/or position control. Stop category 2 must not be used for switch off in emergency situations, but only when changing the operating mode.
Stop categories must not be mixed up with the safety categories of EN 954-1!
