A device data update extends the Lenze software products installed on the PC ( e. g. Global Drive Control) automatically by device specific files, e. g. device descriptions (*.PDB), new PLC target systems and/or documentations. The Lenze software products have to be updated so that they support a new Lenze device. In contrast to e. g. a
Service Pack, which can update one software product each, the installation of a device data update enables the update of all affected software products at the same time.
A device data update can be installed for certain versions of a software product only. Typically the most current versions of the software products are used. Before installation the installation routine indicates the software products and their supported versions.
Device data updates are numbered, e. g. device data update_1. All software products updated by a device data update, are marked with GUx (x = number of the device date update) in their version name. The version is shown in the info window of the software product.
The device data updates are upwards compatible. This means that for the same version of a software product subsequent device data updates contain all device data updates which exist so far.
The data of the device data update are automatically integrated in the corresponding software product on the occasion of the next update, upgrade or Service Pack of a Lenze software product.
The installation of a device data update cannot extend the functionalities or eliminate faults of the software products.
