Failure of charging resistors (elimination)

Which products are affected?

Fault eliminated in servo position controller 9300EP as from versions V2.2 and V6.1.

Eliminated function restriction

If a trip reset request was sent to an enabled controller in the mains connecting phase (e.g. controller enable jumpered) DC bus voltages between approx. 285 V and 430 V (see also C0173) could occur and charging resistors could have been destroyed in the controller. When the maximum DC bus voltage of 430 V was reached, a time between 0.2 and 1.3 sec (depending on the controller) must be maintained without trip reset request.

Now, a trip reset request is possible any time.

Possible diagnostics?

None.

Short-term measures/recommendations?

Do not carry out a trip reset during the mains connection phase (wait approx. 5 sec. after the controller was connected to the mains) or inhibit the controller deliberately with controller inhibit.

Evaluation:

A failure can be bypassed safely and easily (see short-term meaures). This function restriction was already eliminated since mid 2001 with version V2.2.
