Incorrect positioning accuracy display for SSI encoders

Corrected from:

  • Inverter Drives 8400 TopLine V16.00.00

Response of the new version:

The correct single-turn resolution resulting from C426/2 is used for calculating the 'Positioning accuracy' display parameter.

What happens?

The display in C1210/5 MCK: 'Positioning accuracy' does not indicate the value corresponding to the SSI encoder single-turn resolution.

When does this behaviour occur?

The behaviour occurs when using an SSI encoder with the following settings for position feedback: C490/=3; C422/0=4 or 8.

Which products are affected?

  • Inverter Drives 8400 TopLine lower than V16.00.00

Short-term measures:

As for other encoders connected to the multi-encoder interface, the calculated accuracy refers to C420/3. I.e. if the actual single-turn resolution of the SSI encoder is selected in C420/3, the calculation for C1210/5 will work correctly. The entry does not have any influence on the function, but merely on the displayed positioning accuracy.

 Evaluation/recommendations:

The incorrectly calculated positioning accuracy does not have any influence on the actual position control. The display parameter only serves as a reference value for the accuracy that can be theoretically achieved.
