FAST Motion (Lenze Motion) - Differences in comparison to the previous L-force Motion software

Question:
What are the basic differences between "FAST Motion" (Lenze Motion) and the "L-Force Motion" predecessor software?

Answer:
L-force Motion is the previous MotionControl software contained in the PLC Designer up to version <= V3.8.x
The difference in price between the Logic PLC and the Motion PLC variant is the surcharge for the MotionControl functionality. I.e. a fixed surcharge is charged as a lump sum.

FAST Motion is the new Lenze Motion software. It is available as of PLC Designer V03.09.00
and licensed via Application Credits. In contrast to the previous L-force Motion, the Logic PLC (plus Application Credits) is used here.

The FAST Motion functionality is divided into three Motion libraries:
  • L_MC1P_MotionControlBasic:  General operation, monitoring, and parameterisation of individual axes.
  • L_MC2P_MotionControlCam:   Synchronous motion control of several axes (cam functionality).
  • L_MC4P_RoboticHandling:        Coordinated multi-axis motion according to PLCopen part 4 standard.

The features of the first two libraries largely correspond to the PLCopen specifications "Function blocks for motion control, version 2.0".

FAST technology modules:
PLC Designer <= V3.8.x:  All FAST technology modules are based on L-force Motion, library: "L_TT1P_TechnologyModules_SM3".
PLC Designer V3.9.0 and higher:  An "L_TT1P_TechnologyModules_LM" FAST library based on FAST Motion is offered in addition. In the future, only this library will be developed further with regard to new functionalities (new technology modules).
Both libraries are licensed via Application Credits.
