Time offset during setpoint transmission via axis bus cascade

Which products are affected?
8400 TopLine: FW version ≤ 13.00.00.00

What is the response?
The cycle time for the data transmission from one node to another in the cascade structure is considerably longer than expected.
Example: with 4 axis bus nodes (1 master, 3 slaves):
  • Expected: cycle time = transfer clock * number of slaves+1 = 4ms
  • Observed: cycle time = 15ms
A speed-dependent position offset between master and slave can be observed.

When does the problem occur?
Every time the setpoint transmission via axis bus in cascade structure is applied.

Diagnostics options?
The time offsets of the axis bus node setpoints can be compared to each other by means of a PCAN recording.

Short-term measures/recommendations?
None.

Evaluation:
The setpoint step-changes and delays cause additional problems with regard to the interpolation.
The axis bus cannot be reasonably used in cascade structure. The response should be detected during the configuration/commissioning.
