SMS, SLS safety function: ¨Max. response time¨ parameter

Question:
After response of the safely limited speed monitoring, the error message 'SLS/SMS: Error stop not executed' appears. How do you have to parameterise the parameter 'SLS, SMS: Max. response time'?

Answer:
This parameter is only of importance if SS1 or SS2 is selected as error response of SMS or SLS.
If the speed exceeds the Nlim or Nmax limit, the parameterised error response SS1 or SS2 will be activated.

After the max. response time has elapsed, the SM301 will check if the current speed has (due to the SS1 or SS2 function) meanwhile again fallen below the Nlim or Nmax limit.
If this is not the case, the error message 'SLS/SMS: Error stop not executed' will be triggered and STO will be activated.

TIP: From version V1.4 onwards, the SS1 or SS2 ramp characteristics can be continuously monitored by the SM301. This error response monitoring should be preferred over the max. response time monitoring to ensure that the speed will not only be checked once (at the end of the max. response time) but during the entire deceleration process. For this type of monitoring, the max. response time parameter can be set to the value of the SS1 / SS2 stopping time.
