Setting of memory modules which are applied in real plants later (from V8.1 onwards)

Function description
It is now possible to prepare memory modules in such a way that parameters such as C00022 (Maximum current) are already set correctly for the application later on.

Phase 1: Preparing the parameter set of the memory module on a demonstration set-up (e. g. test case)
If 100 A has been selected in the parameter set (e. g. C00022) this setting will lead to an error message when downloading the parameter set into a device which cannot supply the required current amount (100 A). Due to the error message C00022 was loaded with default setting (0 A).

The new function is activated in the Engineer menu item 'Tools -> Options -> Tab: 'Service'. Please tick mark '9400 device family: No application activation following transfer to the device'.

The function changes the download sequence in such a way that the parameter values are only saved in the flash memory of the memory module. The values are not saved in the NV-RAM of the memory module (contains the start parameter set) in this case. The NV-RAM memory differs form the flash memory content at that moment.
However, the project parameters are saved with mains failure protection in the flash memory of the memory module.

Phase 2: Using the prepared memory module in the target device
If the prepared memory module is inserted into the target device and the controller is switched on afterwards, the parameter set in the NV-RAM of the memory module is compared with the parameter set in the flash memory of the memory module at first. This comparison process reveals unavoidably that the parameters are different and the parameters saved in the flash memory of the memory module are loaded into the device.
If the C-22 value parameterised in the memory module exceeds the max. current of the target device the max. device value is loaded. Otherwise the value of the memory module is adapted. As soon as the user has executed the 'Save parameter set' function (C00022 = 11) once, the value is saved in the NV-RAM of the memory module.

The same mechanism is applied in case of codes C00018 (switching frequency) and C00174 (undervoltage threshold).

Applications
A user wants to write a memory module included in a laboratory set-up and to be applied in a real plant later on. The power of the controller used in the laboratory set-up is lower than the power of the target controller included in the real plant.

Included in which products/versions?
