Display of digital signals by means of the GDC's oscilloscope function

Question:

Can the oscilloscope function of GDC also display digital signals?

Answer:

By means of the GDC oscilloscope digital signals cannot be displayed directly. They can, however, be displayed indirectly provided that the corresponding system resources are given.

Single digital signal:
A single digital signal can be displayed by means of the oscilloscope, when with this signal an analogue change-over switch (e. g. ASW1) is activated and with this change-over switch a selection between the analogue values 0 % and 100 % can be made. The output of the analogue change-over switch (e. g. ASW1) can be evaluated by the GDC oscilloscope. If further channels of the oscilloscope are available, they can correspondingly display further digital signals.
Note: The additionally used function blocks (e. g. ASW1) are to be entered in the processing list behind the function block, which creates the digital signal to be oscillated.

Several digital signals:
Beyond the multiple usage of analogue change-over switches und the corresponding channel assignment up to four digital signals can also be displayed by means of one oscilloscope channel. For this purpose these signals are to be connected to the four digital inputs of the function block FIXSET1. The fixed setpoints C0560/x are to be parameterized with the following values:
  • C0560/001 = 10 %
  • C0560/002 = 20 %
  • C0560/003 = 30 %
  • ...
  • C0560/015 = 150 %

The analogue output of the FIXSET1 function block, an oscilloscope trace was made of, serves for reconstructing the status of the digital input signals in the GDC oscilloscope.  The analogue output, an oscilloscope trace was made of, shows as result the decimal value in [10 %] of the input status' of the FIXSET1 block according to the formula (FIXSET1-IN1) * 10 % + (FIXSET1-IN2) * 20 % + (FIXSET1-IN3) * 40 % + (FIXSET1-IN4) * 80 %.

Example:
  • FIXSET1-IN1 = 1
  • FIXSET1-IN2 = 0
  • FIXSET1-IN3 = 0
  • FIXSET1-IN4 = 1

In this case the analogue output of FIXSET1 shows a value of 90 %.

Note: The additionally used function block FIXSET1 is to be entered in the process list behind the function blocks, which create the digital signals an oscilloscope trace is to be made of.
