Power controlled welding bar drive, function block WELD1

Application:

The WELD function is mainly used in feeding drives (feeder) and welding bar drives. By using the 'welding bar control' individual sections of a motion profile can be moved on the master axis (x axis). This shifting can take place depending on a time window or a positioning range of the master axis.

Function description

Up to now it has been possible to set opening/closing phases and opening/closing times. An interruption of the welding process (e.g. via the welding performance) was not intended. Due to the revision to version V3.4 the FB receives the following signal input:
  • WELD1 -BREAK

Signal input (bin), interruption of the welding phase, True = In the second section of the motion profile (welding phase) the third section is processed immediately (opening).

The opening at the welding bar drive can be forced via input WELD1-BREAK = TRUE. As a result, the function block only executes the motion control via profile sections (see Manual).

Output WELD1-T-ERR should not be evaluated anymore in this operating mode since this function only works in combination with the internal welding time control. The output level is not defined. The function described is useful if the value selected for the welding at WELD1-TIME is parameterised higher than the max. required value in order to get a setting range for the interruption via -BREAK. If a control is not carried out via –BREAK the internal function block control is effective.
