Decentralised I/O system remains in preoperational state after mains on

Question:

Why does the decentralised I/O system / gateway remain in the preoperational state after mains switching although a CAN master is in the bus system which sends the NMT frame 'Change from preoperational to operational' to all devices?

Answer:

After mains switching, the decentralised I/O system can react to the NMT frame of a master and change from preoperational to operational only after initialisation has been completed. Initialisation of the decentralised I/O system can take longer than the default boot up time of Lenze controllers which is set to 3,000 ms by default.  

Remedy:
Increase the boot up time in the master C0356/1 to 10,000 ms.
