Same PDB folders for DDS, GDC and DriveServer

Question:
How can the various software tools DDS, GDC and DriveServer operate with the same PDB folders?

Answer:
If PLC components are read out with GDC or DriveServer, both software tools require the generated device description files (PDB files) from DDS.

1. DDS
Under the menu item Project => Options place a tick against Create device description. This setting causes DDS to generate a PDB file automatically when compiling the DDS project. In the same dialogue the folder is entered into which the PDB files are to be stored by DDS. Instead of the default setting enter the PDB folder of GDC here.
Example: C:\Programs\Lenze\GDC_V43\pdb\049

2. GDC
With the settings made in 1. above the PLC components can now also be read out with GDC.

3. DriveServer
With the DriveServer configurator it is possible to create more than one PDB folder. Under the menu item Configuration => PDB paths the various PDB folders can be added. There add the PDB path of GDC.
Example: C:\Programs\Lenze\GDC_V43\pdb\049

As a result the three software tools DDS, GDC and DriveServer operate with the same folder for PDB files.
