DriveServer does not work after installation of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0

Question:

Why can DriveServer no longer be started after installation of Microsoft Internet Explorers 6.0?

Answer:

During installation of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 some system files are updated. Some of these system files are used by DriveServer. When these files are updated DriveServer can no longer be started. This affects operating systems WIN 98 and NT.

The OPC umbrella association has been informed about this and will be contacting Microsoft in order to clarify the matter.
Short-term solution:

  • Create a new folder '...\DriveServer\patch' and copy the enclosed files into it
  • Start the file Regall.bat. A message box appears saying '... succeeded'
  • Now close the window.
  • Start the computer again.
